Talk:Ubuntu flavors

From Ubuntu Wiki

Consider pages being migrated to Ubuntu project docs

The Ubuntu Project docs have been gradually migrating some pages from the old wiki.

For example, a page on "seed management" is in their staging area:

ubuntu.com/project/docs/staging/release-team/seed-management/

The Ubuntu flavors page is definitely a good fit for this wiki. Before linking to, or creating, additional internal wiki pages on topics like seed management, we should consider whether there is anything in the official docs that we should point to instead.

Alternatively, if there is a particular spin on such a topic that is more appropriate for the wiki, that might be an option.

Yeah, I was also wondering what to do with seed management. The official docs should probably be useful for more "dev stuff" while the wiki page, like this, can be more "general information".
Most likely seed management should be removed. It just doesn't fit. That is my take. Jpeisach (talk) 18:42, 25 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
Yes. The purpose of the Project Docs, in my understanding, is giving people the information they need to make technical contributions to the project.
I don't think we can make any hard and fast rules at this point for the wiki, but it's good to be aware what they are publishing in the docs so that whatever is on the wiki adds value. That could mean it's more general information, like you say, or more user-facing, or even niche/weird/hacky.
I think we can still have a page on seed management in the wiki, which, for example, concisely explains the concept and links to the project docs if someone is interested in learning more. Over time, it may evolve into something else.
Thanks for your thoughts. Shanecrowley (talk) 18:55, 25 July 2026 (UTC)Reply

This page was migrated from the old wiki. The seed links in the table all seem to be to Lunar.

Would it be best to update the links so they point to the last LTS (Resolute)? Shanecrowley (talk) 18:39, 27 July 2026 (UTC)Reply
