Notes
General
- Image size can change across point releases for a given version, due to changes in firmware, packages, and updates.
- While image size has grown over time, so has the power and storage capacity of user machines.
Availability
- Desktop images were the first to be released, followed by Server, then WSL.
Differences
- The Server image contains a minimal package set intended for server installations and does not include a desktop environment, making it substantially smaller than the Desktop image.
- The WSL image is even smaller. It doesn't have an installer application or a desktop environment. It also doesn't come bundled with a Linux kernel, because WSL provides the kernel.
